The Greek word for saint used in the Bible is "Hagios." This use of the word "saint," means one who is set apart by God. The word for sanctification (or the process whereby God is setting you apart for his growth and work in your life) is "Hagiazo."
The apostle paul often referred to those he was writing to as the Saints, or the "Hagios," (set apart) ones. The Catholic church has often suggested that a person becomes a saint through their death and then confirmed miracles that happened in their name after their death. Their is no biblical basis for this idea. Rather, we are all saints if we are in Christ through the washing and regeneration of our souls through the work of the Holy Spirit. All of us, who are adopted into the family of God through his divine election are in fact saints.
We are greatly encouraged by the stories of saints in the Bible who laid down their life for the gospel message of the kingdom of God. We can also be greatly encouraged by reading about the saints throughout all history who have given their lives for us. In addition, we can be greatly encouraged by the stories of the saints in our own church who day by day are giving their lives for one another.
That is what this blog is for. Stories of ordinary people who have been changed by an extra-ordinary God. We hope you will enjoy these stories.
